Creamy Garlic Parmesan Orzo


Side Dishes
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Serves: 4

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups orzo
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups half and half cream
  • 1 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 tbsp parsley

Steps:

  1. In a large skillet add olive oil and butter and cook for 30 seconds for butter to melt. Stir in onion and garlic and let cook for 2 minutes
  2. Add orzo to the skillet and let cook for 2 minutes so that it starts to toast lightly
  3. Season with salt and pepper then stir in chicken broth and half and half cream. Bring to a boil, and then turn the heat down to a medium low. Cover with a lid and let cook for 5 minutes
  4. Remove the lid and stir in parmesan cheese and parsley
