Dill Pickles


Canning
Prep Time: 60 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes

Brine Ingredients:

  • 6 cups white vinegar
  • 6 tbsp pickling salt
  • 8 cups water
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar

Pickle Ingredients:

  • Cucumbers cut into spears
  • 1/2 tbsp peppercorns per jar
  • Mustard powder
  • Fresh dill
  • Garlic cloves

Steps:

  1. Sterilize canning jars, lids, and rings in boiling water for 10 minutes.
  2. Mix together brine ingredients ang bring to a boil.
  3. Cut cucumbers into spears.
  4. Once jars are sterilized put in 1/2 tbsp peppercorns, a few shakes of mustard powder to taste, a couple crushed cloves of garlic, and a few stems of dill with flowers.
  5. Pack jars with cucumber spears and fill with brine leaving 1/2“ head space.
  6. Water bath can the jars for 15 minutes.
